Ever since my cancer diagnosis, our entire outlook on life and finances has changed.
For the last 3 1/2 years, we were making such huge payments, we have fallen behind on our current taxes. Our plan has been to make small tax payments as often as we can to keep everyone at bay, and pay for real when the bankruptcy was discharged.
We knew we had to do make some serious changes to get through this,
so we called our bankruptcy attorney for the first time in over 3 yrs, I
think. He was very sympathetic and genuinely will be trying to help us
through this new hurdle. He gave us some hope!
Since we have such a good payment record on our monthly payment, he thinks we may be able to file for a new payment plan that would include our remaining balance our current outstanding taxes.
Instead of our remaining 18 monthly payments of over $6000, we would start over with a new 5 year plan that would be much more affordable, and get rid of the tax monkey that is currently on our backs.
If we can get some financial relief, I think I'll be in a much better state of mind to fight the cancer.
